Stretch fit Jan 03, 2011
By Sebastin Escobar
"Sebastian @ Perú"
The build is perfect, looks very hard and holds the iPhone 4 perfectly. The problem is (and that's why I rate it as a 3 star) I use a soft rubber case with my iPhone (the sort that protects it when it falls from my hands). With my case, and probably with any case, the iphone doesn't fit on the stand. You have to take de IPhone out of it's case to use the stand. That just doesn't work for me, this is a dealbreaker. I cannot use this stand.
It's a shame, 'cause the stand is very nicely created and looks very good. If you don't use a case with your iPhone, This is probably the best stand to buy.

Nearly perfect! Dec 10, 2010
By Bob This stand is inexpensive and does exactly what it's supposed to do. It holds the phone at a good angle for viewing in both landscape and portrait orientations, and holds it securely. The "open" area behind where the phone sits is just the right size to sneak the iPhone charging cable through, so I use one of these with my phone in landscape mode as a charging stand/alarm clock at night using a nice alarm clock app.
The only "problems" I've found with it (and the term 'problem' depends on how you use the product) are:
(1) It's SO light that when the iPhone cord is threaded through the open area, the stand doesn't hold the cable in place, in fact the weight of the cable can drag the stand off a table.
(2) The entire stand is machined aluminum, so nothing stops the stand from sliding around on a smooth surface. This is related in part to the weight of the stand noted above. An easy fix would be a little patch of rubberized material on the bottom of the stand. Since not all customers might want that, it would be great if Elago included an adhesive-backed patch of non-skid material that could be applied if the customer wanted.
Otherwise, this stand is perfect. Inexpensive, durable, effective, light, and small. I bought two.

Good show, but poor performance Feb 27, 2011
By GhostWriter I have never reviewed an item on Amazon before, but this is important enough to spread the word. I love Elago products, but was sorely disappointed when I received this product. The stand is well made and the solid piece of machined metal is very attractive and excellently constructed; however, it is only wide enough to hold a COMPLETELY NAKED iPhone 4. I have an invisible shield on my iPhone and even though it is a VERY thin film, it keeps the iPhone from setting on the bottom of the stand.
I am extremely disappointed and will most likely be returning this stand. It is a great product (2 stars) but doesn't really cradle my iPhone.
Back to the drawing board. I also ordered an Elago M2 stand, but it hasn't arrived yet. I think I will just bite the bullet and buy the M2 for both home and office.

Elago S4 iPhone stand only works if your phone is not in a case Jul 27, 2011
By patmcg I wasn't thinking about my iPhone 4 being in a case when I ordered the elago S4 aluminum Stand.
The item works great if you don't have a cover on your phone. I'm going to give it to someone who can use it. I cannot.
Instead, I went down to an office supply store and bought a small black metal mesh business card holder for $1.99. IT WORKS GREAT!!!

This won't work if you have your IPhone in any case ( even Elago S4 Case ) !!! Dec 17, 2010
By Raghu I was very disappointed with this stand . I have purchased an Elago S4 slim fit case and my IPhone with this case on does not fit into Elago S4 stand ! I don't expect them to design a stand to fit IPhone with any case but I think it's common sense to have compatibility between their own products. I really like Elago S4 case which is sleek but it does not make sense if I have to remove it whenever I want to use S4 stand for FaceTime. Moreover the case fits very tightly and it's tough to remove.
