Great and Economical Apr 26, 2007
By Mel Odom For years I've been using the Gyration Ultra airless mouse, but the battery recently failed and it's become almost impossible to replace. I tried ordering a replacement battery and never got it.
A quick trip to the local electronics store was disconcerting. I wanted what I wanted, but I had to have something that worked. I picked up the Targus Notebook Rechargeable Laser Mouse after watching a friend use hers. I was prepared to hate it because I usually hate change in my computer software/equipment that I work on every day.
The laser-driven software turned out to be amazing. Within a few minutes, I was using the mouse like I'd been using it for years. I'd often forgotten to put my old mouse on the charger and it was aggravating waiting for it to charge back up. With the USB power cord that comes with the Targus mouse, charging while you're working is no big deal. Not only that, but it charges extremely quickly so you get back to cord-free in a short time.
I don't know exactly what the life expectancy of the recharageable batteries is. I've used the mouse till it has died because I work till I can't see straight, but I didn't keep track of how many days had passed. An indicator, as some of the other reviews have stated, might be good, but it's not necessary. When the mouse is almost dead, you lose control of the cursor and you can tell. But it charges really quickly.
The purchase price is really agreeable as well. After looking at all the other brands and models on the shelves, I feel the Targus is competitively priced and often offers more than most of the others.
Although I still miss some of the freedoms of the air-mouse, I enjoy the Targus because it slid right into my workstyle so effortlessly and keeps pace with everything I do.

Short battery life Aug 02, 2007
By G. Cox Nice mouse, but I can only get about 2 hours between charges, so it has to be connected about half the time. You might as well have a wired mouse. Save your money.

Doesn't work quite as it should Jan 09, 2008
By ubat This mouse's fit in my hand is great, as is its anti-slip texture. It's also very sensitive and reliable, with perfect tracking. However... there seems to be some problem with my unit. Every so often its rechargeable batteries simply quit -- and it's not due to discharging, because I am now testing it plugged into USB. The problem seems to be a faulty contact. If I don't use the unit for a while (let's say, go have a meal while leaving the computer on), when I return the mouse will be dead. I have to open the battery compartment and jiggle the batteries a bit. Then, when I close the battery compartment the mouse will work just fine. Until the next time I step away from the computer... I'm not really happy with this, as you can understand. By the way, this mouse will NOT work plugged only to USB: when charging the battery, you have to occupy two USB ports so that the mouse can function and recharge.

TARGUS CORDLESS RECHARGABLE LASER MOUSE Oct 22, 2009

"AGR"
I have been looking for a Cordless Mouse. I have other TARGUS items that I like. I was surprised to see the low price. I bought three. Later gave one away. I really like the size and feel of the mouse. I am disappointed in the short battery life and you have to connect to the USB Cable to recharge the batteries. I am always satisfied with my purchases, shipping and service at AMAZON Targus Notebook Rechargeable Laser Mouse

Same problems May 06, 2008

"Rational Thinking"
I had the same problems as ubat. it would just quit working after leaving it plugged in, not in use for awhile. I would have to reconnect the USB key in order to get it to work again. Not sure if its suppose to be like that to save power but I doubt it because the batteries dont stay charged very long anyways. I was mostly using the mouse plugged into the cable which completely defeated the purpose of a wireless mouse. It does look and feel great but I would not recommend buying it.
